IT governance can be translated as the administration of information technology in order to guarantee total control over its results, which must be aligned with business objectives.
For this to be possible, the functions (sub departments and groups), processes, people, policies, tools, suppliers and everything else that involves IT must be managed in accordance with IT guidelines, which in turn are an extension of the guidelines corporate / business.
In other words, governing IT is ensuring that everything information technology does is under control and in line with business expectations.
When this happens – when IT goals contribute to company / customer goals – what we know as Strategic Alignment is achieved.
